Hello Tumblr,
I recently was struck with an epiphany last night, and if you’ll hear me out, I’ll pull an Alexander Hamilton on today’s public.

Let’s rewind to the Revolutionary War. America is fighting for independence, and the Continental Congress is doing it’s best to adhere to the people’s wants and needs. Then, a man named Alexander Hamilton came along. He and two others (James Madison and John Jay) wrote a series of essays entitled the Federalist Papers to defend the Constitution to the public and boost the country’s morale.

Fast forward to present. The country is struggling with FCC chairman Ajit Pai’s December rule against 2015 net neutrality rules established by Senator Wheeler. Yesterday, those rules were officially repealed and net neutrality breathed its last breath. I intend to do what Alexander did.

With your help, I want to write a series of essays entitled The Creator’s Pamphlets and publish them to the public. Then, once they’re everywhere in the country, I want to send them directly to Congress. But I can’t do it alone.

Over the course of the coming summer, I want to write 15 essays defending net neutrality. Dubbed The Creators Pamphlets, I need help in interviews, videos, and public speeches aimed towards the public. I know its only a few days until the biggest corporations in the country stamp out our freedom, but what I’m getting at is.. I need your help to change the course of history.

yes, let’s talk about this because i’m sick of cis gay dudes asking my boyfriend if he minds or say he’s only okay with it cause he’s bi. i’m sick of them saying shit like “i’d never be able to do that to myself” and “even if he’s a boy he has, you know…girl parts…” or whatever. not to mention the amount of gay dudes who hit on me when i was passing only to find out i’m trans and laugh it off like they were joking or, worse, react with utter disgust. cis gays are just as capable of being transphobic as cis lesbians and the fact that people are only calling out women is kind of telling. a lot of gay men won’t even entertain the possibility of dating a trans man and their “reasons” are just excuses wrapped up in transphobia and, at times, misogyny. the community gives cis gay men a lot of free passes for their bigotry and i’m sick of it. we should really talk about this.

Lots of people batted an eye at the time. Anti-hetalia backlash, especially from Jewish anime fans, was fucking huge. And it didn’t stop them from invading convention spaces, showing up dressed as nazis, etc. I heard a story from a friend that while they were at a convention a Jewish kid had a panic attack over a group of Hetalia fans that were dressed as nazis and heiling and shit and the Jewish kid got kicked out of the con for “making a scene.” I don’t remember the con, but it was in Minnesota. Hetalia has a large part of the blame for the modern “anime right.” It certainly didn’t directly cause them, hell, most of them probably aren’t Hetalia fans, but it’s because of Hetalia that they learned they could be openly and brazenly fascist and the American anime community would protect them for it instead of shunning them.

I know it sucks we have to talk about this but in light of the fact that Black Panther is coming out this weekend I think it needs to be addressed. The possibility of a shooting happening at a Black Panther screening is very real, seeing as there will be very high populations of people of color going to see this movie.

Here are some tips I learned in school for surviving a shooting, modified a bit to match the setting.

1. TAKE NOTE OF YOUR EXITS. Your first instinct should be to GET OUT if at all possible. If you are near an exit, GET TO IT and run. Call the police and get somewhere safe. Remember, shooters have tunnel vision. If you are lucky enough to be within a shooter’s peripheral vision, you have a good chance of being able to escape.

2. If you are unable to exit the theater, HIDE. Get down under your seats, crawl underneath chairs to get to an exit, whatever. If necessary, smear yourself with blood and cover yourself with a dead body and play dead. I know it’s gross and horrible, but this is something that can save lives. Many shooters are not going to go around shooting dead bodies; their goal is to kill as many people as possible. If you look dead, there’s a chance they won’t shoot you.

3. If you cannot hide and you cannot escape, AMBUSH THE SHOOTER. You need to get a group of people to do this, and I’m not sure how that would work–if you’re going with a group of people you could all agree to jump the shooter if you were near him, or someone could shout “JUMP HIM” in the theater and a group of people would jump him.

This is very effective. A single person WILL NOT be able to withstand a group of four or more people bringing him down, especially if you distract him beforehand by throwing WHATEVER YOU CAN at him.

That means food, popcorn buckets, sodas, purses, bags, WHATEVER. Like I mentioned before, shooters have tunnel vision and will not be expecting objects being thrown at them.

It takes a shooter a certain amount of time to go through the mental process of finding a person, locking that person as a target, aiming, and shooting. Anything you can do to disrupt that process causes that person to start it all over again. DISRUPT THAT PROCESS BY THROWING WHATEVER SHIT YOU CAN FIND AT HIM. In the seconds he has to go through that mental process again, ambush him, get him on the ground, kick his weapon away, and call 911.

Xi Jinping is pushing to get rid of presidential term limits, effectively giving him the power to remain president for the rest of his life. This is a shocking shift for China, a country already dense with authoritarianism, not only because of the power Xi Jinping will have, but because of the message it sends the rest of the world.
As the United States burns all of its relationships with countries around the world, China is showing what values it believes are important in the modern era: authoritarianism and corruption.
